TOP TEN REASONS TO TAKE A CRUISE

Top 10 Reasons to take a Cruise

  1. Choose to cruise for VALUE. One price buys your cabin, dining, entertainment and more.
  2. Choose to cruise for ROMANCE. Secluded beaches, en suite dining on a balcony overlooking the ocean and spa services for two are just some of the romantic pursuits available.
  3. Choose to cruise for CUISINE. Tantalize your taste buds with gourmet fare that showcases exotic ingredients, old standbys like pizza and ice cream or spa cuisine for a healthy alternative. Depending on your mood, dine in a traditional ballroom setting, a small bistro or a casual eatery.
  4. Choose to cruise for VARIETY. With over 200 distinctive ships, 3000 ports-of-call and an unbelievable array of places to see and things to do, there is a perfect cruise for you. For even more choice, consider a pre- or post-land tour.
  5. Choose to cruise for ACTIVITIES. Fill your days with sightseeing, sports activities, cultural lectures, educational tours led by naturalists and historians or simply lounge by the pool and relax. At night, enjoy dance extravaganzas, musical revues, gaming or a quiet evening gazing at the stars.
  6. Choose to cruise for SIMPLICITY. Don't come back from your vacation needing a vacation. Planning a cruise is simple; your CLIA-affiliated travel agency can handle all of the details. Once you're on board, nearly all expenses are pre-paid... talk about hassle-free.
  7. Choose to cruise for NEW HORIZONS. Fall asleep in one destination and awake to a new horizon... and you only have to pack and unpack once!
  8. Choose to cruise for FAMILY. Families love cruising. Children's programs, kid-friendly menus and tours of the ship will keep your children happy, while affording you some time alone.
  9. Choose to cruise for PAMPERING. Regardless of your budget, all cruise lines pamper their guests with first-class service around the clock.
  10. Choose to cruise for SATISFACTION. It's a fact that cruises have a higher percentage of satisfied customers than any other vacation experience.

Little Manila, Stockton California

I had the privilege to visit Little Manila in Stockton last week with one of my closest friends from the East Coast.  In 1946, Stockton became the home to the largest Filipino community in the U.S. and a little area of downtown was labeled as Little Manila. During that time, Little Manila was surrounded by restaurants, stores, labor unions and social organizations that provided services and a sense of community to immigrants isolated by intense segregation.  City redevelopment and highway construction in the 50's and 60's devastated the physical and social fabric of Little Manila. There were only 3 original buildings: the Mariposa Hotel, the Rizal Social Club and the Filipino Recreation Center, and a strong sense of memory and ownership among the local Filipino community remained when preservation advocates spurred the City of Stockton to declare Little Manila a local Historic Site in 2000.

You can check Little Manila Foundation's website to find out how you can help in preserving this quaint community in Stockton.

When you visit Stockton, make sure to stop by Filipino Food Express, located at:

1650 South El Dorado Street
Stockton, CA 95206-2022
(209) 464-1461

The owners are so welcoming and even called the Little Manila Foundation if we can get their calendar.  Unfortunately, it is only available online.  We had kare kare, pansit, dinuguan and papaitan.  I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Romantic O'ahu Escapes

Imagine perfect moments in paradise for you and your special someone.  You will find the Island of O'ahu, the heart of Hawaii, is the perfect for romance.  O'ahu's unique "town and country" island experience is ideal for someone looking for a tropical romantic escape with tremendous value and a wide range of options that allows RMA Travel to create customized dream itineraries to suit each and every client.

WHAT'S NEW ON OAHU

The Battleship Missouri reopened to the public on Jan. 30, following $18 million worth of maintenance and preservation work that began in October 2009.  This re-opening will serve as a prelude to the upcoming commemoration o f the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II on Sept. 2, 2010.  The Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor recently acquired five new historic jets from the Cold War through Vietnam War eras.  On the Aviator's Tour, visitors get behind the scenes with the new jets in an authentic battle field hangar that still bear the original bullet holes in the windows from the Dec. 7, 1941 attacks and much more.

PCC launched an exciting new evening show, Ha: Breath of Life, which has received great reviews, featuring a storyline with universal themes that all guests can relate to.  From the apprehension of youth, to the stirrings of young love, and even the sorrow of death - Ha takes the audience on an emotion-filled ride through the sights and sounds of Polynesia.
